Lady Sings the Blues PG-13 Lady Sings the Blues PG-13 Born Elenora Fagan, Billie Holiday (played by Makeda Grier) had a difficult teen and young adulthood, which included working in brothels, both as a cleaning woman and a prostitute. Although her life suffered multiple tragedies she was still able to achieve fame as she obtained her dream of becoming a jazz singer. Take a musical journey with Theater 47 as we dive into the story of the troubled life and career of the legendary Jazz singer Billie Holiday.

 

Keya “Gifted Keys” Trammell, Recording Artist & 2019 Chicago Music Award “Best Female Vocalist” nominee, makes her theater debut playing “Miss Flo.” "Miss Flo", Madame of The Brothel, gives young Billie Holiday work as a prostitute. 


Joining the cast for this theater production fulfilled a childhood dream of Keya's to grace a stage and combine her love for music, dance and acting.
